In an enviable location on the edge of a lagoon where hippo chortle and elephant wallow, stands Chindeni – undoubtedly one of the most beautiful tented camps in the South Luangwa. There’s something about sleeping under canvas that ignites a sense of adventure in everyone.
Whether you are in the mood for intrepid exploration or more sedentary wildlife viewing, Chindeni will deliver. Set out on superb walking safaris, game drives, night drives and scenic sundowner trips in the surrounding area, or simply settle yourself in a deckchair at camp, and watch the abundance of game that is drawn to the lagoon.
Children aged 12 years and older are welcome at Chindeni. As children under 12 years are not allowed to participate in walking safaris in the Park, families travelling with children aged 11 years and younger will need to reserve a private camp or hire a Private Guide & Vehicle for the duration of their stay at any of our Bushcamps.
Rooms
Chindeni’s Canvas tents
Raised on a wooden decking, Chindeni’s 4 en-suite magnificent canvas tents have private decks from which one can view the resident big game often in attendance, or simply enjoy the extensive birdlife and serenity of the camp and lagoon. The tents are the most spacious in the Luangwa, each with two queen-sized beds or one king bed, shower, toilet and double vanities. The dining area is on stilts above the oxbow lagoon with an adjoining lounge area for relaxing in the open air. Guests have been known to stay in camp during hot October days and see more from the deck than on a drive!

• The central dining area, deck and bar overlook a lagoon and have a stunning view across to the Chindeni Hills.
• There is a fully stocked bar in camp.
• The camp is powered by solar; limited charging facilities are available.
• Lighting is by solar light and paraffin lamps.
• There is a limited laundry service free of charge.
