Surrounded by the vast sweeping dunes of the Namib desert and overlooking the Kunene River, Serra Cafema is beautiful and remote. Hidden away in the enormous Hartmann Valley this is undoubtedly one of Namibia’s more undiscovered lodges and offers guests an unchallenged level of calm and relaxation, with the sound of the Kunene River uniquely juxtaposed by the dry desert-scape of the Namib.
Guests can truly disconnect, unwind and relax to the sound of rushing water, and explore one of the driest deserts in the world.
Rooms
The eight chalets are set on elevated decks and crafted in wood, canvas and thatch to create a unique camp that is at one with its surroundings and celebrates the culture of the Himba people. The Ozonganda (Herero, meaning “main area”) affords spectacular views over the Kunene River.
En suite bathrooms and private verandas are complemented by glass doors that are set at the front of the rooms, which are raised high off the ground on wooden decking. There is also a room specific for accommodating families and one for honeymooners, the latter of which provides the best views in camp.
Standard Tent(s) –
There are seven twin bed tents. The beds can be moved together to make a double bed. There is two twin bedded guide/pilot room which are smaller than the standard tents.
Family Tent –
There is one family unit which sleeps four in two adjacent rooms connected by a shared entrance and deck.
In suite bathroom, writing desk and chair, lounge area, mini electronic safe, tea/coffee maker, bathrobes, eco-friendly liquid soap, shampoo and conditioner, body wash and lotion, natural insect repellent.
