Information
Popa Falls Resort is your gateway to the north – eastern corner of Namibia – with its perennial rivers, magnificent indigenous woodlands, riverine forests, floodplains and reed – lined channels. Located on the Okavango River opposite the Bwabwata National Park, Popa Falls is famous for its lush setting and the sound of the rapids cascading down the rocky descents in the river.
It is the ideal base from which to explore the Mahango Game Park, with over 450 species of birds recorded. A wide variety of wildlife species, including elephant, hippo, buffalo, crocodile, red Lechwe, reedbuck, roan and sable antelope, and if you’re lucky, even the elusive Sitatunga antelope can be observed.
The ‘falls’ are in fact a series of cascades created by a quartzite ledge that causes the river to split into numerous channels. They can be accessed on foot from the rest resort.
