Information
Mopiri is in the north-west of the Okavango Delta in Botswana, on the west side of the Weboro Lagoon in NG7, and with easy access to NG24 concessions, nestled between palm trees and under large shady figs, Mopiri’s 10 luxury rooms all have panoramic views of the Okavango Delta.
Mopiri is surrounded by crystal clear Delta water on all sides; depending when you stay, you may be able to see hippopotamus, elephants and Sitatunga in their natural habitat.
By Air: The airstrip is 5 minutes from Mopiri. Flights from Maun take 35 minutes and from Kasane 1 hour 25 minutes. From the airstrip we transfer guests by boat to Mopiri. We will gladly book the internal flights for guests.
By Road: It is an easy 290 km drive from Maun to Estha 6, a village where we offer secure vehicle parking. Detailed directions are available. We transfer guests from here to Mopiri, part by game viewing vehicle and part by boat (ca. 45 minutes).
Rooms
Luxury Family Room – 3 Rooms
The luxury family rooms are light and airy and have two three quarter beds (convert to king) in the main bedroom. Off to the side is the adjoining second bedroom with two single beds, which can also be made up as a triple. The room has one bathroom with large rain showers and twin sinks, which is adjoined to the rooms by a short corridor making the most of the lagoon views.
Luxury Room – 7 Rooms
The tents are light and airy and have 2x three quarter beds (convert to king on request) and bathrooms with large rain showers, twin sinks and WC. The bathrooms are adjoined to the rooms by a short corridor making the most of the view over the lagoon.
Facilities
Long winding boardwalks connect the seven luxury rooms and three family suites with the main area; the pool and the jetty give you an opportunity to explore the surroundings from an elevated position.
At Mopiri you set your own pace. You may choose to spend your days exploring the Okavango Delta on one of the many activities available, or simply kicking back and enjoying the tranquil surroundings of island life.
Activities
Mopiri is surrounded by permanent water and large lagoons. Water activities run all year round. Included in the rate: boat cruises, fishing*, mokoro trips, bush walks, a full day trip incorporating numerous activities, private overnight fly-camping**,
a visit to the Wild Bird Trust research centre**.
* Basic angling equipment is available at Mopiri. Fishing from Mar-Dec only.
** These activities need to be arranged prior to arrival/on confirmation of the booking.
Wellness treatments can be organized at an additional charge. Treatments are done in-room. Helicopter flights can be arranged from Mopiri. Scenic flights over the Delta can be combined with a visit to Tsodilo Hills, local communities and/or Life
with Elephants Experience.
Barge Cruise
Enjoy a sundowner or a spot of fishing aboard our double storey barge “Osprey”. This is the perfect way to start or end your stay, or simply to relax on the idyllic water and really take in your stunning surroundings.
Full Day Trip
Spend the day exploring the surrounding areas accompanied by our knowledgeable guides. At Mopiri you can explore the cool papyrus channels by boat, heading into the depths of the Okavango Delta.
Fishing
Mopiri is a prime destination for lure fishing. Tigerfish are indigenous to the area and as one of the world’s most dramatic freshwater game fish this is a uniquely thrilling angling opportunity for both experienced and novice fishermen. Up to eight other species can also be caught on line, creating some great fishermen’s tales to tell back home! (Please note that fishing is prohibited in January and February throughout Botswana when fish are breeding).
