An intimate refuge... Camp Chobe is designed with privacy in mind.
Sprawled along the banks of the back waters, the lodge flawlessly combines the best of this unique inland flood plain - the peace and serenity of gliding through waterways lined with lush aquatic plants and the excitement of searching for big game through endless miles of green grassland.
Camp Chobe is situated in the Eastern Caprivi, merely 4 km from the Ngoma border post between Botswana and Namibia, across the river from the world renowned Chobe nature reserve, home to one of the largest concentrations of elephant on the African continent.
Chobe National Park allow game to roam freely, the 11 700 km² (4 500 square mile) reserve is located in the far north of Botswana, bordering on the Chobe River. Chobe is particularly well known for its large herds of elephant and buffalo, as well as the two antelope that cannot be encountered anywhere else in Botswana, the Puku and the Chobe bushbuck.
Covering approximately a third of the eastern portion of the Caprivi, the Zambezi and Chobe flood plains combines permanent waterways with drier areas, creating areas filled with unexpected contrasts and diverse wildlife. The Chobe flood plains are in a constant state of flux, expanding and contracting according to the rainy season. While some parts of the Chobe remain permanently flooded, others only experience high water levels from May to September, when rainwater from Zambia flow into the Zambezi and Chobe rivers.
Camp Chobe is located on these plains, with its tall mopane woodlands and spreading floodplains fringed with majestic Boabab trees, make it one of Africa’s most scenic wilderness areas. Permanent swamp areas are lush and green, with papyrus and water lilies growing around deep lagoons lined with riverine forest that are dominated by jackalberry, mangosteen and sausage trees. Seasonal swamps, on the other hand, contain a network of small channels cutting their way through papyrus and reed beds to create islands of all shapes and sizes.
Camp Chobe enjoys luxurious solitude on the banks of the Chobe river. It is a delightful camp carefully designed and located for privacy, combining the natural beauty of the breathtaking setting.
You’ll find twelve light and airy tented suites combining canvas and the indigenous mopanie timber. All the tents have sweeping views across the channels looking out onto the spectacular Chobe scenery.
